Easy Korean Style Rice Bowl with Grounded Beef

Easy Korean Style Rice Bowl with Grounded Beef

Ground beef and rice are some of the best combinations that you can do with these two ingredients. It is easy to cook and tastes great. This is perfect for busy professionals who have little time to spend in preparing meals.

The ingredients for this dish are easy to find. The beef and rice combination also gives you the best source of protein and carbohydrates for a long day. Throw in a couple of vegetables and you will have yourself a complete meal.

This is a Korean inspired dish. The closest one you can get is a bulgogi. However, instead of using slices of sirloin, like they do in Korean bulgogi, we will use ground beef instead. While there might be slight differences in taste, the result is just as sumptuous and delicious as the original.

In comparison, bulgogi is usually prepared overnight in order to further enhance the flavor. This Korean rice bowl recipe, with a substitute ground beef, will recreate the same flavor in just as little as 15 minutes or less.

Another important thing to consider is the price. While bulgogi would usually fetch quite a price, this recipe can be made with essentially leftover food. If you have leftover beef and rice, just throw it in a bowl, add some condiments and you’re done.

1 pound ground beef
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup soy sauce
2 teaspoon sesame oil
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 green onions, sliced
¼ teaspoon sesame seeds

For this dish, you must have your white rice already cooked on the side.

Using a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, ginger, and sesame oil. Whisk them together until they are properly mixed.

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium high heat. Add garlic on the skillet and cook until golden brown which should take about a minute. Add ground beef and cook for about 5 minutes or until it is brown. Make sure to crumble the beef when cooking. Drain excess fat.

Stir in the soy sauce mixture and green onions on the beef until properly mixed. Allow it to simmer for about 2 minutes. Put your rice on a bowl and top it with the cooked beef. Serve.

If you want more taste, or if you have more time to spare, you can turn your ordinary rice into a fried rice. Additionally, you can just throw in two or three teaspoons of minced garlic into a heated olive oil and cook it until golden brown and then top it on your Korean rice bowl. You can also try some experimentation on this dish. You can throw in chopped carrots and celery to add more flavor and aroma into the beef. If you want a little kick on the flavor, try to add more spice into the beef.
