Slow Cooked Beef Spaghetti

Looking for a good ground beef recipe is not at all hard, especially with the advent of the internet. Almost any type of cooking involving ground beef is available in the cyber world. The main task here is picking the right one.

Beef and spaghetti have been a staple combination for several centuries already. This dish have been recorded since the peak Roman Empire, which is why it is one of the most loved recipe in history. It is easy to cook, and almost every corner of the world have its own take into this well-loved dish.

Ranging from simple and humble recipes, to some of the most impressive cuisine ever served on a table, spaghetti will always be a staple for most of us. This particular spaghetti recipe requires conventional ingredients. The most important thing is that it is easy to cook, which makes it an ideal meal if you are tired or need to prepare a decent meal in a hurry.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef
1 pound Italian sausage with its casings removed
8 ounces spaghetti
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 cans of diced tomatoes, drained
2 cans tomato sauce
3 bay leaves
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Preparation

Since the spaghetti takes quite a while to be cooked, you should handle this first. Boil water in a large pot and add the pasta. Adding salt to the water will give the pasta a bit of taste when cooked. Make sure to stir it in order to prevent the pasta from sticking to the pot. Cooked until your desired consistency is achieved. Once done, drain the pasta and let it sit on the side for a while.

Using a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium high heat. Once heated, add onion and garlic, and sauté until golden brown. Add Italian sausage and cook for about a minute. Add ground beef. Cook until beef is brown and has not pink spots. This should take about 4 to 5 minutes. Make sure to crumble the beef and sausage as you cook it. Once done, drain excess fat.

Place the cooked ground beef into a slow cooker. Mix in the tomato sauce, oregano, basil, diced tomatoes, a dash of salt and pepper. Cover the cooker and cook for 8 hours on low heat. This will make sure that the beef is moist and will properly blend with other ingredients. Slow cooking also brings out the inner taste of the beef.

Place the spaghetti on a serving plate, and add the beef sauce on top. Serve.

Tips

Adding a layer of cheese on top of the dish is also a good way to add flavor. When it comes to garnish, you can throw in some fresh basil leaves to add color and aroma to the dish.
